From the Mal Ciputra Jakarta atrium
CL Music Fest took place at Mal Ciputra, Jakarta, on 12–14 June 2026. The project photographs show a stage with truss, lighting and an LED screen in the atrium, a lighting console facing the stage, and a view of the stage from an upper balcony. A mall atrium opens onto several floors, so planning differs from a ballroom or a performance hall. The sections below cover points to prepare.
Start with the mall management rules
Mall management usually has rules on installation hours, sound level limits, usable areas and goods routes. Truss stage installation is often only allowed after the mall closes, which limits working time. Ask for these rules early and include them in your brief. The technical team can then build a realistic schedule for load-in, rehearsal and load-out. Also ask about work permit letters and the list of crew names entering the site.
- Permitted installation and dismantling hours.
- Sound level limits during mall opening hours.
- Goods route, service lift and loading vehicle parking.
Account for audiences on the balconies
In an atrium, part of the audience watches from upper floors. That angle affects light positions, beam directions and LED screen height. Lighting that looks good from the ground floor can dazzle people on a balcony if it is not aimed carefully. During rehearsal, take time to check the stage from several floors, including whether truss or speakers block the screen when viewed from above. Also note whether visitors may watch from escalators or particular corridors.
Plan the operator position and festival schedule
The lighting console and mixer need a clear view of the stage, but must not block mall visitor routes. Mark the operator area on the layout and provide barriers if needed. For a multi-day festival, prepare a daily rundown with performer order, line check needs and changeovers. Send each performer's technical rider so sound and lighting requirements can be matched before the show days.
- Each performer's or band's technical rider.
- Changeover time between performers in the rundown.
- An operator area marked on the atrium layout.
Send one brief for the atrium concert
Combine the dates, mall name, management rules, atrium layout, daily rundowns, performer riders and stage, lighting and sound needs in one version of the brief. Separate essentials from extra effects still under consideration. Princess sales prepares a quotation after these details have been discussed, so the technical plan follows the atrium's constraints and your event's needs. Attach the on-site contact and any venue rules document as well. If anything changes after the brief is sent, update the same document so everyone works from the latest version.
